New Course! Cancer Prevention to be Offered this Fall (0.5 Designation Credits) November 7 - January 20, 2012


Disease prevention is an important area along the cancer care continuum and is relevant to all areas of nursing practice. This online course is comprised of six eLearning modules and one day workshop where motivational interviewing skills will be the focus of practice using role play. Nurses will learn the foundational concepts of health promotion, types of prevention, population based cancer screening, survivorship and health promotion, an introduction to complementary and alternative therapy, an overview of behavioral change theory, and motivational interviewing theory and practice. Fall Patient Navigation Course – September 12 – November 17th


This course explores the main principles of navigation with the aim of improving the experience of cancer patients. Through eLearning and a one day practical workshop, nurses will gain knowledge on: Supportive care, assessment, communication, facilitating access to resources and community services. The sessions use a variety of approaches to help nurses learn and apply their knowledge to competency areas required for certification.
