Description: The presentation will cover the following areas:

Explores the prevalence of people with dementia residing in long-term care homes and the importance of selecting an advance care program that meets their needs

Reviews and synthesizes the literature that evaluates advance care planning programs in the long-term care context, in terms of methodological rigour, impact and consideration of the values of residents with dementia and their family members

Proposes the MacCourt (2009) Dementia Policy Lens Toolkit as an appropriate framework for evaluating the incorporation of residents with dementia's values in advance care planning programs or interventions
