Nurses routinely encounter grief and assist patients and families to deal with difficult losses. Nurses form close relationships with their patients and regardless of years of experience or level of training, nurses often experience profound impacts. Nurses need to acknowledge these impacts in order to recognize when they need assistance and be able to thrive and provide effective care.
