Toronto Palliative Care Network June Lunch and Learns

1. Quality Workshop, June 14, 2010 @ 1:00-3:00PM (15th Floor Classroom, Mount Sinai Hospital & Webinar) REGISTER HERE

The purpose workshop will be to raise collective understanding of quality and its role and application in hospice palliative care, and how we can develop leadership in this area.  The session will provide an overview of quality principles and concepts, the link between safety and quality, an overview of some problem-identifying & quality improvement tools, and a discussion surrounding how to nurture leadership in quality among staff, management and board of directors.

2. Examining the Palliative Performance Scale & Non-Oncology Patients, June 16, 2010 @ 12:00-1:15PM (6th Floor Classrooms, Rooms 702/703/704, Princess Margaret Hospital & Webinar) REGISTER HERE

This session examines the Palliative Performance Scale (PPS), a tool for measurement of performance status in palliative care, and its application on non-cancer patient populations. This will include a special focus on patients with congestive heart failure (CHF). The session will examine the literature on the effectiveness of the PPS and provide insight on this tool’s application in these patient populations.

2nd Annual PMH Nursing Education

The PMH Systemic Therapy Professional Nursing Council is hosting the 2nd Annual PMH Nursing Education on June 18th, 2010 at the Old Mill Inn.

The theme for this year is "Sex, Drugs & HPV: Dispelling the Myths and Highlighting the Issues". Highlights include presentations by Sue Johanson - host of the "Sunday Night Sex Show"; and Dr. Nancy Durand, guest expert on the CityTV's Cityline Show.
