Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Facilitator Course (1.0 Credits)

About: This course is for RNs in Ontario interested in teaching de Souza Institute's Standardized Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Course in their local organization.
 


Eligibility Criteria:
To be considered eligible to attend a candidate must:



  • Successfully complete the de Souza’s  Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Standardized course

  • Be a Registered Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario and intending to practice in Ontario following completion of the program

  • Certified in Oncology Nursing (C)anada (CON(C)) or the Oncology Nursing Certification (OCN)

  • 2 years experience in cancer chemotherapy and biotherapy care and/or teaching cancer chemotherapy and biotherapy care

Course Curriculum will cover:



  • An introduction for learners to de Souza Institute's Chemotherapy Course

  • Theoretical frameworks, adult teaching learning principles and standards guiding the de Souza Institute's three day chemotherapy and biotherapy course

  • Content of the chemotherapy and biotherapy curriculum, goals and objectives

  • Requirements and process in determining a candidate's successful course completion

  • Exam processes

  • Common challenging questions encountered during facilitation, and answers relevant to your unique practice settings

  • An introduction and review of de Souza Institute's chemotherapy preceptor program and recommended preceptorship tools

Weekly Commitment: The average time commitment for this course is a 7.5 hour workshop and 2-4 hours of course prep work. Additional time will be required on completion of course to implement the standardized program in their local organization/region.
 


Participants will receive 1.0 credit towards their de Souza Designation by attending the workshop and delivering the program within their organization.  Participants are to deliver de Souza’s Chemotherapy course at least two times totaling a minimum of 15 hours to 3 to 4 participants per session.
