Then, seize this exceptional opportunity to join de Souza Institute – an innovative centre of learning dedicated to improving cancer care for Ontarians by supporting excellence in oncology nursing provincewide. In partnership with nursing leaders at Princess Margaret Hospital-University Health Network and Cancer Care Ontario, the Institute provides specialized on-site and online education in cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment, symptom management and palliative care to Ontario nurses who work with oncology patients. The focus of the Institute is to build excellence in oncology nursing through education and mentorship for the nurses. This is where you can make your mark as a nursing leader and champion of continuous learning.

Drawing on your 3 years of oncology nursing experience and proven success in adult education, you will lead the development and implementation of oncology education programs for nurses across Ontario, with a clinical focus on Pediatric Oncology. Ideally, your current CNO registration is backed by a master’s degree in Nursing or Education.

Nursing Educator: Pediatric Oncology, de Souza Institute (university Health Network)

Requirements

    • A Master's Degree in Nursing or Education (in progress at minimum, completed preferred) or recognized equivalent.
    • Current Registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
    • (3) years experience in oncology nursing and related experience.
    • Pediatric knowledge/experience preferred.
    • Theoretical and practical experience in adult education, including educational program planning, development and evaluation
    • Excellent leadership, prioritization, presentation, program planning and teaching experience
    • Excellent professional nursing knowledge and skills
    • Ability to adapt, build trust, provide coaching and collaboration, and facilitate change and continuous improvement
    • Demonstrated ability to motivate staff and create an environment conducive to learning and team-building
    • Ability to contribute to team-building success by developing others, fostering group dynamics and processes, monitoring information, being innovative, managing conflict and stress, and planning safety awareness
    • Excellent organizational, time management, decision-making and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team
    • Proficiency in the use of computer applications to support work processes, e-learning implementation and information management
    • Completion of a Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.); A.C.L.S. preferred
