eHealth is a broad term that encompasses technology in healthcare. The term health informatics has often been used interchangeably with eHealth. The term health informatics was used to describe computer and information technology driven by health providers, whereas eHealth also encompasses consumer-driven services and technology (as cited in RNAO, 2011). For more information on eHealth and its importance to nursing, we encourage you to take the free RNAO course titled eHealth for Every Nurse as well as the free de Souza eHealth Nursing & Oncology course (which is an extension to the RNAO course).
